FurBearers Unlimited Inc has joined forces with the International Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies and other like minded organizations to provide the needed funding to work toward the delisting of the Mexican Bobcat. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (C.I.T.E.S.) has provided that the Mexican bobcat be included on the Appendix II Species list. Many state wildlife agencies and conservation organizations throughout the U.S. have made the delisting of Mexican Bobcat from the CITES and the Endangered Species Act a priority for many years.

The United States has proposed delisting of the Mexican Bobcat to the CITES Animals Committee.  In the past science and data have had little to no effect on delisting proposals.  New criteria have been established that places more importance to science and helps remove the importance of emotional and political aspects from the process.  The U.S. is working closely with Mexico to de-list the Mexican Bobcat. This research project by Federal and State agencies in Mexico to assert the population of the Mexican Bobcat is neither endangered nor threatened.
